I would like to know if it is possible to create and register a new custome BLE service on the XDK. I understand the XDK BLE stack provides a bidirection data service by default but I would like to create my own BLE service with custom characteristics. I would also like to use BLE notify/indicate mechanism for this service. Please let me know if this is possible. Thanks in advance.
Hello Sandy, First I would like to welcome you to the XDK community. Unfortunately, the BLE library of XDK-Workbench versions 3.0.0 and above do not support implementing custom BLE services or characteristics. It only offers a bi-directional data service and the sensor services with each of their pre-defined characteristics. If the implementation of a custom service is mandatory for your use case, then I can only recommend using the XDK-Workbench version 2.0.1, were the BLE library still supports the implementation of custom BLE services. Keep in mind that there is no documentation in the Learning section on BLE 2.0 and custom services. Please let me know if that was helpful and feel free to ask if you have further questions. Kind regards, Franjo
