XDK install on Ubuntu 17.10

Hello,

I've downloaded the XDK install file for Linux, gave it executable permission.

Now if I run it as user the GUI installer tells me I need sudo.

If the installer is run with sudo it gives following error in the console:

INVALID MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1

and halts.

Any advice?

edit: attached the images with the request for root and the error message in the console.

Thanks.
