IOTA: MAM protocol on XDK

Hello,

I'm working on a Sensor as Service business model with XDK, it currently working well with a proprietary solution, now we want to scale it up and after some research we will started with IOTA as data exchange backend, we already know the XDK itself cannot behave as a full node due it lacks of computing power, but we already know it is possible to forward data to a full node ready to be placed onto IOTA tangle running a protocol called MAM, I started to implement my own version of MAM client but after read this:

http://rebrn.com/re/bosch-ama-january-th-3998090/

There is a implementation of MAM coming to XDK, so my question is:

Is there any further information about MAM implementation to XDK? Is there any date to release? Does the Community Managers recommed to wait until the implementation is ready or start to develop your own at least for prototyping purposes?

Thanks in advance.

Felipe

Hello Felipe,

I read the article regarding MAM on the XDK too. As far as I know, there is no further information about the MAM implementation on the XDK available. Neither is a release date officially announced.

Regarding your questions about an own implementation, it depends when the official release is planned. Since there is no date released yet, I would recommend going with your own implementation for prototyping.

Nevertheless, I will request more information regarding the MAM XDK implementation and will come back to you as soon as I know more.

In the meantime, I can only ask you for patience.

Please let me know if that was helpful and feel free to ask if you have further questions.

Kind regards,
Franjo

Hello Felipe,

I received new information regarding the MAM implementation on the XDK. Unfortunately, I can not say when a possible release date would be, since this mainly depends on the IOTA foundation.

As I told you before, I would recommend going on with your own implementation.

Nevertheless, if you are interested in the topic and are attending the Bosch Connected World next week, you can get in contact with the XDK Product Manager about this topic.

Please let me know if that was helpful and feel free to ask if you have further questions.

Kind regards,
Franjo

Hi Franjo, thanks again for your support, your previous response is exactly what I'm searching. I actally found a way to build the MAM protocol from sources supplied by iotaledger and generate c wrappings to access the library in Rust.

https://github.com/iotaledger/MAM

When I finish to build this concept, it will be pusblished on Project Exchange section, I personally think the XDK is the strongest candidate to drive applications on Economy of Things such IoT data marketplaces.

Thanks again.

Hello Felipe,

I am always glad to help and to hear that you were able to jump-start your application with the sources provided by the iotaledger.

I am also very curious to see your finished application, introducing the MAM protocol on the XDK.

Kind regards,
Franjo
