Cellular connectivity

Hi There

Has anyone looked at trying to use a celular connection instead of included Wi-Fi, I am after NB-IoT or any ceular access technology (3G or 4G) to deliver my sensor data.

Cheers

Wil

Hello Wilfredo,

First of all, let me welcome you to the XDK Community.

NB-IoT looks very promising as a LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Network). Compared to Sigfox or LoRa, it has a few significant advantages. Unfortunately, I personally have no experience with NB-IoT, but maybe some other community member has.

But regarding the NB-network, you need a module that is NB-IoT (or LTE Cat NB1) capable.
I checked, for example, the datasheet of the SARA-N2 module, which looks very promising.
You could connect your XDK with the module via UART for the module communication with an application host processor such as the XDK.

Please keep in mind, that you have to include the specific AT commands for the SARA-N2 module and implement the functionality to use it with the XDK by yourself.

Please let me know this was helpful, and do not hesitate to ask further questions.

Kind regards,
Franjo
