DataLogger Demo does not work
Answer

Hello there,

I am working on a project and therefore I need the sensor values on the sdCard so that I can work and evaluate the measured values.

Thanks to the community I found the DataLogger Demo which translate what I need.

Unfortunately this demo does not work and a problem displays (see picture or appendix)

"No binary file found in the selected project"

Does somebody know how to solve this problem or does somebody have the same error?

My sdCard is already formatted in FAT32.

I saw in the community that "logger.ini" and "custlog.ini" is necessary for the DataLogger, but how do I get these on the sdCard ? Or how do I see if these are already on it?

Hope someone here can help me. Thanks in advance.

Lisa

Hello Lisa,

The error no binary file found in the selected project means that the project you try to flash to the XDK contains no executable binary file, which could be flashed on the XDK. This might be caused due to an invalid set project path.

To solve this, I recommend taking a look at the project path by right-clicking the project, selecting properties, then C/C++ Build and then choose as Build directory the folder on your hard drive were the Data Logger demo is located.

The files logger.ini and custlog.ini are shipped with the Data Logger demo and can simply be copied from the projects folder to your SD card. Please note that you at least need to insert some configuration into the file logger.ini to make the Data Logger demo run correctly on the XDK.

Please let me know if this was helpful and feel free to ask if you have further questions.

Kind regards,
Franjo

Hello Franjo,

thanks for the fast answer!

I checked the project path and selected the right folder (look at appendix), but the same problem still occurs.

Do you have any other approach to solving this problem?

Relating to the Sd-card, I copied the logger.ini and custlog.ini but I do not exactly know how to configurate it. Can you please give me some hints or does a tutorial exist therefore?

Tanks a lot in advance.

Regards,

Lisa :)

Hello Lisa,

Thank you for providing further information on your issue.

I guess, I found the cause for it. It is indeed within the folder path. As I can observe on the screenshot you provided you have a blank between the folder named by your name Lisa Tran. This blank is causing the error with the XDK-Workbench.

As such, I recommend exchanging the blank with an underscore and refreshing the project by right-clicking the Data Logger project and selecting refresh.

In regards to your new question, you can simply open up the logger.ini and custlog.ini files in a text editor and configure them.

Furthermore, the zip file containing the Data Logger demo should also contain a .pdf file explaining the different possible configurations.

Kind regards,
Franjo

Hello Franjo,

thank you for your answer.

I tried your solution, but it did not work again.

I do not know what I do wrong.

With the time I become desperate.

Lisa :)

Hello Lisa,

You do not need to get desperate.

Your description sounds like it could be an issue about the way you imported the project.

Could you please go more into detail about the used importing process?

To import the project into the workspace, did you open the XDK Workbench and chose at the top menu File and Open Projects from File System... ? A popup window should allow to choose the import source , so the current project location C:\Users\Kelly\Desktop\XDKDataLogger_v3_1\XDK\src\DDL_demoDataLogger should have been chosen. Also the project folder should have been checked. The important thing is to enable Add project to working sets and to select the current XDK workspace, it should be imported to.

Please tell me if this worked for you, and do not hesitate to ask further questions.

Kind regards,
Franjo

Hello Lisa,

Another approach to solve this issue would be to create a new workspace.

For this, please klick on File > Switch Workspace > Other .
In the new window, make sure to keep the Copy Settings checkbox unchecked, except Preferences and then klick on Launch . Import the Data Logger demo in the new workspace and build the project.

If this does not work, I can only recommed to reinstall the XDK-Workbench.

Please tell me if this was helpful, and do not hesitate to ask further questions.

Kind regards,
Franjo
