Hello all,

first of all the secound post regarding data logger.

I download the trail Version of the XDL 120- UDP Setup was sucessfull.

1) For the datalogger.exe server- the documentation is wrong regarding the syntax setup (e.g. documentation -P = Port number --> realitiy -p=port number)

2) after creating the .bin file the converting to csv is not working

with the the following command I can log after pressing button 1 on the XDK into the bin file

datalogger.exe server -t 10 -f csv -p 6666 -o Name

After pressing Button 1 Again the following message appear after timeout and .BIN to .CSV failed

Traceback (most recent call last):

      File"datalogger.py", line 69, in <module>

      File"datalogger.py", line 62, in main

      File"xdk_wifi_datalogger.py", line 124, in main

TypeError: __init__() takes 1 positional argument but 2 were given

Failed to execute script datalogger

I solved it with and .cmd to convert with the datalogger.exe convert function

3) MAIN QUESTION: Now I want every 1min a new file on the server - So not only one file after starting the server- autosave function was already enables but has no influence on it- Is this possible?- I need every 1 min a file on a share drive so the 3rd party application can use it.

Thx for help Fritz

Hi Friedrich Mairhofer ,

Reg Point no 1 & 2:

It looks like the datalogger trial binary, user manual and datalogger.exe are not compatible. In the latest datalogger release, -P port is argument for port number and -p is argument for parser type (custom/msgpack).

Can you please let me know from where did you get the datalogger trial binary, user manual and the datalogger.exe ?

Reg Point no 3:

Auto save feature is available only in SD card data logging and not WiFi streaming.

For SD card data logging, you can use a system configuration <autosave>  in config.xml which can be set to true and configured from 1min to 24h. Example if <save_time>  is 2min, for every 2 min, one log file will be created in SD card.

Morning,

thx for the fast response

1&2) I got it from the official homepage

https://rb-iot-marketplace.bosch.com/boschiotcustomermarketplace/en/EUR/Industry-4-0/Data-Logger-Firmware/p/405862100105/

3) Can I do a turn around with the datalogger Server (to start e.g. every min a instance and stop it every min? to create several files?)

Or is it possible in the full version to access the source code on the BOSCH XDK or Datalogger? To adjust it in the programming? I want to create a live monitoring...

Thx Fritz

Hi Friedrich Mairhofer,

Reg 3:

For the full version also, the source code is not provided. Only difference with the full version is the time to log data. As you said, if you stop after a minute and restart: the bin file 001 generated as datalogger output file will be overwritten.

One solution is: after stopping data logging, store the 001 bin file to different location and then restart the logging.

Hello,

Please ensure the command is valid as below,

datalogger.exe server -p <portNumber> -t <timeout> -f csv -o OutputFolder

If it still does not work, can you share the command you used ?

Hello,

thx for reply

command is the following what i am using

Start /wait C:\Users\Friedrich.Mairhofer\Desktop\XDL120_trial\tools\datalogger.exe server -p 6666 -t 10 -fcsv -o test

also used in the cmd overview only

datalogger.exe server -p 6666 -t 10 -f csv -o test

in the config.xml Port 6666 is configurated

and -o is NOT Outputfolder command -> as we discussed the manual is not correct

Hello,

I understand that datalogger v1.3 used by you, have some compatibitly issues. You can try running python script directly in place of executable for now; as this will work. Also make sure python does have all required modules as mentioned in packaging.md. Command is as follows,

python datalogger.py server -p 6666 -t 10 -f csv -o test

For your information:

A stable datalogger firmware and tools will be released possibly next week. Once released in the IoT marketplace, i can comment in the same conversation about the release news, so that you can continue to use latest datalogger without any issues.
