No sign of life from XDK

Hello,

since a few days my XDK is not showing any sign of life, neither when connected via USB nor via BLE/WiFi. When using the workbench with USB connection no device is found. Restarting the XDK with the on/off switch (either connected or not) leads to a short flashing (one time) of the red LED (the one on the very right, < 1s) and then - nothing. The green LED always stays off, which is probably not a good sign. The connection was tested at two different computers without any success.

Between the last time the XDK was working and the first time the error occured, the XDK was on my desk in off-state, so I really don't know what could have caused the error.

Is there any kind of hardware factory reset for the XDK which I could try?
Who can I contact for a hardware support of the device?

Best regards,
Andreas

Hello Andreas,

XDK can only be recognized via USB, when the application software is not crashing the device. Since the USB stack on XDK is running as part of the application program, a crashed device will also not be recognizable via USB.

The red LED that briefly lights up during initialization inidicates, that XDK is in bootloader mode while the red LED is on. It then starts up the program and turns off the red LED. I suspect, that the program gets XDK into an inoperable state and hence USB is no longer working.

To recover XDK, please switch it off. Then press and hold button one and turn it on. Once the red LED comes on, release button 1. XDK is now in bootloader mode and should be recognized in XDK Workbench. This allows you to flash new software.

Please provide feedback, whether those steps have worked.

Bastian
