I am having the XDK kit and I am using 8GB SD card. I formatted it to FAT 32 system before inserting it inot the XDK kit. As well as I kept the both .ini files into it. I checked no other hidden files present in the SD card. Then I connected the XDK with XDK workbench via USB to the PC. I flashed the DDL_demoDataLogger file into it. I dont know whether it is flashed it properly or not into the XDK. As well as After flashing no LED is glowing in the XDK box. I am trying to export the sensor data into a .csv file. No such file is found in the SD card. Can you please tell the step by step procedure to be followed to log the data into the SD card or if you have any tutorial files please send or upload it in the form of video or pdf. To start logging of data should I press any buttuon.
Kindly help in resolving the issue.
as explained in the thread here you have to format the SD card to FAT32 and make sure that only the two recommended logger.ini and custlog.ini are inserted to it. You will receive the output attached in the first screen if you flashed the demo correct to the XDK. The second screens shows the hidden files on the SD card. Therefore the first four files are inserted by my mac on the SD card. The fifth file "System Volume Information" is inserted by windows on the SD card and cause the issue that the XDK makes nothing. This files has to be deleted to get the anticipated result.
The XDK will log all measured values to one .csv file until the SD card is full. Pressing of the button will only generate a new file and log the measured values to it.
Kind regards, Franjo
I formatted the SD card to FAT 32 and I inserted the logger.ini as well as custlog.ini into the SD card. Then I deleted the system volume folder also. When I am trying to flash the log file in XDK I am not seeing the which you sent me as image which shows the flashing is not done properly. What is the reason for that. I am not finding any .csv files also into the SD card which I read using the card reader. Please help in proper flasing of the file into the XDK.
I guess we have to clarify some things first. Please tell me which operating System you are using. Additionally I need to know the current version of the Workbench and the DataloggerDemo you have in use.
And would you be so kind and use the windows command line to display all files including the hidden ones on the formatted SD card and post a screenshot here ? We need to make sure that the SD card is completely empty before writting something with the DataloggerDemo.
The Operating system which I am using is Windows 8
The workbench version detais are

The data logger demo I downloaded from the website.

thank you for the requested informations.
Can you tell me if you have currently activated "hide extensions for known file types" in your windows folder settings. And I would like to ask you to go once again to the SD card directory over the command line and use the command dir /a and post a screenshot in here. One time before adding logger.ini and custlog.ini, and one screenshot afterwards.
I have attached the screen shots for the folder options settings,SD card directory,before and after inserting the ini files into SD card.
Thank you for the screenshots, but I think there was a small missunderstanding. I guess you still have a problem with the hidden files. Please make the screenshots before and after you place the files on the SD card of the command line. Please use the the command line with the command: dir /a.
This shows all files on the SD card including the hidden ones.
I attached two screenshots to show how to I detected the hidden files and deleted them. Should System Volume Information still remaining on the SD card, make sure you have admin rights and use the command rmdir "G:\System Volume Information" /s /q to delete it. Check if it was deleted with dir /a.
I attached the screen shots for before and after the insertion of .ini files into SD card. I checked I am having the administrator rights also in the computer where I am using the XDK workbench.
Please check and help in proper flashing of the DDL file into the XDK kit
well done, it seems to be no common bug. I guess we have check some other possibilities why the XDKDataloggerDemo doesn't work.
Can you please test the SdCardExample on your XDK ? This will make sure that the SD card is recognized and works properly. Unfortunately the example has to be modified to produce the correct result. Please comment the following code lines 319-324 in SdCardExample.c.
//if (f_mkfs(DEFAULT_LOGICAL_DRIVE, PARTITION_RULE_FDISK,
//AUTO_CLUSTER_SIZE) != FR_OK) /* Format SD-Card and make file system */
// return (APP_ERR_ERROR);
Note: If you have no code lines activated, you can activate them in Preferences > Editors > Text Editors > Show line numbers.
Another reason could be the SD card itself, because only SD cards with the SD card Standard 2.0, FAT32 and with a cardcapacity of 32 GB are supported. SDXC are unfortunately not supported. Therefore can you please tell me what kind you are of SD card is using ? Is this card standardized to the SD card standard 2.0?
Additionally to this a similar reason could be the naming of the SD card especially white spaces. Could you please rename the SD card to something without white spaces like "DATA"?
I tried all the steps which you suggested with the SD card but it was not logging the data. Then I thought of changing the SD card itself and I purchased a new micro SDHC 8GB and tried flasing. It was successful and The data also get logged in.
Thank you for your support and I will get back to you if I experience any problem further.
Hello Pannirselvam, I am glad to hear that you get the demo working. Please dont hesitate to ask, if you have further questions.
