Is this what I need to do to get a debugger working on my XDK110?
1. Buy J-link LITE CortexM-9 debug probe from SEGGER (https://www.segger.com/jlink-lite-cortexm.html)
2. Connect this to the 2-row 10-pin connect on side of XDK
3. Click JLink in Eclipse IDE of XDK
and then I should be able to halt and single step, etc.
Am I on the right track??
The J-Link LITE CortexM-9 is exactly the debugger which can be used to debug XDK applications. The only thing you have to do to get started with it, is to connect the XDK with the J-Link as you mentioned and then to your Laptop/Pc. Afterwards you can directly use the debug button beneath the flash button in the XDK Workbench and use the debugger to debug your XDK application.
Please tell me if this is helpful and do not hesitate to ask if you have further questions.
Kind regards, Franjo
Can I use other J-Link debug probe such as the J-Link pro for debugging?
Thanks and Best Regars,
Hello Calvin, yes, you can use the products, which you linked, except for the J-Link EDU Mini, for debugging the XDK. But beware, because the XDK requires a 9-pin connector (specifically 9-pin 0.05" Samtec FTSH connector (J-Link Lite CortexM-9)), while the debug probes require a JTAG/SWD 20-pin connector. Thus, you would additionally need to order an adapter from the 20-pin connector the a 9-pin connector, such as this. But generally, the J-Link Lite, as mentioned in previous posts of this thread, is the most affordable, and covers the basic functionalities for debugging. If you are deciding between buying the J-Link Lite or one of the other products, and do not intend to reuse the debug probe for other non-XDK devices, the J-Link Lite would be sufficient. Otherwise, it's completely up to you. Please tell me if this was helpful, and do not hesitate to ask further questions. Kind regards, Franjo
can you please give a reason, why the J-Link EDU Mini will not work?
Regarding the educational aspects of the Bosch XDK eco system, this would be highly desirable.
