Dear all,
is there an easy way to define own Bluetooth characteristics with the XDK / SDK?
In order to minimize data transfer, we would like to group data into several characteristics, to be able to subscribe to the respective notification events. However, in the examples, different data is distinguished with an individual header of the same characteristic. A quick scan of the documentation indicates, that a deeper dive into the AlpWise Stack might be required - maybe the reason for the message headers =)
Thanks for any hint!

Hi tpirk,

first of all I need to apologize for the long waiting time on this ticket.

I was about to put together a working example for you, which took longer than I initially thought.

Judging from your post over here: https://xdk.bosch-connectivity.com/xdk-community/category/bluetooth-some-first-steps/31129-t/31128#id31128 , I assume that you already solved your problem?

Let me know if this is the case, otherwise I'm more than happy to further assist you on this.

Hi Florian,

thanks for your reply - and I'd indeed still like to get some more support =)
My other post showed what I was able to achieve, but the above question is still open.
The default state of the Alpwise bluetooth stack is the setup of a service (5301) and two characteristics (5302 and 5303). I would like to define my own characteristics and get rid of the need to write 0x00100001 (=select accelerometer sensor) to characteristic 5302 prior to get out any data from 5303. In the Alpwise documentation I found some functions described, but couldn't identify their application in the code. Any help here is appreciated.

Best,
Tjalf

Hi Tjalf,

I haven't found a convenient way to create custom characteristics other than tampering with the Bluetooth AlpWise stack so far. As this seems to be quite a bit of work and pretty unconvenient, I asked our second level support to confirm with me if there aren't any better/easier options to solve this.

I'll reply back to you as soon we have a better answer for you ;)

Hi Florian,

great, thanks -
and back from vacations now I'd be happy to test any easier options as soon as they are available ;)
